MIRRORED JOURNEY

21 March - 7 April 2022

"The Parthenon from the Seven Seat Plateau, Athens". Part of  "Mirrored Journey", a project by Kasuhira Yatima and Violeta Ivanova. Moorland Productions received a circular mirror from the organisers who asked for it to be taken on a journey to three places and photographed in situ without using any editing.

Our mirror explored dwellings (of people or gods) starting in a neolithic cave in SW France, then the Parthenon, Athens, and finally, the Tombs of the Kings, Paphos, Cyprus.

MacKenzie Art Gallery, Regina, Canada. The Neighbours Project is a nomadic translocal project curated by Rachelle Viader-Knowles, Mkrtich Tonoyan and Kenneth Hay of Moorland Productions. Artists are invited to picture/narrate a story about their neighbourhood and the results are exhibited and published in the 'Neighbours' Newspaper. It has had several iterations involving over 50 artists, in Armenia, Canada, Mallorca, and Larroque, SW France.

Moorland Productions are listed with the Artistes d'Occitanie / Artists of Occitanie, France and participate in the annual 'Open Studio' day organised by the Regional Council. For this event Moorland Productions exhibited a range of works, old and new including this print from the "Absences" exhibition about the Highland Clearances, first exhibited at the Czech Centre for Experimental Theatre, Brno in 2002, and later in Taiwan, 2007.

SLUICE ART FAIR, LONDON

19 - 20 OCTOBER 2013

47/49 Tanner Street. Forty Artist/Curator run Galleries & Projects. Moorland Productions showed with the XVI Collective and created this site-specific installation using Japanese 'Google Map' adhesive tape on the window. The tape portrays parts from a continuous street map of London in the form of an RFID tag.

Moorland Productions have exhibited and presented at 3 of the Water Tower Festivals, the largest international art festival in Bulgaria, curated by Nia Pushkarova. Moorland Productions have participated in residencies, led workshops, tutored and exhibited at Cyprus College of Art, Lempa, near Paphos, since 2008.  Several of The Frozen Academy's projects have been initiated or developed there.

Moorland Production's film, "Miracle', filmed in Venice and selected for the Olympic One Minutes in Amsterdam, was screened at the Today Museum, Beijing for the inauguration of the Beijing Olympics, 2008.

CHINA NOW, XIAMEN/LEEDS 

2008

A simultaneous exhibition in Leeds and Xiamen, China organised by Andrew Kelly as part of the China Now Festival. Moorland Productions showed video, together with a sound installation  which 'exchanged' the sounds of six key locations in each city (The Market, the High Street, the Station, etc.).

Project for Cracow Public Transport, and the Goethe Institute, Cracow, curated by Anna Morlinghaus.  Moorland Productions presented two images of "Urban Foxes" with text, for display at selected tram stops in Cracow. All member countries of the EU were represented by one/two selected artists.

OLYMPIC ONE MINUTES

2005, 2008, 2013

Catalogue of the World One Minutes touring exhibition, "Miracle" (video) by Moorland Productions, was selected for the "Olympic One Minutes"promotional DVD and screened at the Today Museum, Beijing (2008) and then toured to Shanghai, Lisbon, Zagreb, Paramaribo, Brussels, Sào Paolo, Istanbul, Amsterdam and Gröningen. It was also selected for exhibition in the Stedelijk Museum (NL) and 30 museums/galleries in NL and around the world.

"HIBRIDA II" BRNO/BRADFORD

2005

Contemporary printmaking from the Czech Republic and the U.K. Exhibited simultaneously at Bradford Cartwright Hall and The Brno Gallery, Brno, CZ. Curated by Colin Lloyd and Ian Colverson. Moorland Productions exhibited "The Four Elements: Water" (Digital print 10 x 1 metres). Catalogue essays by Jiri Havlicek, Kenneth Hay and Robert Galeta.

RADAR INFOPOINT, VENICE

8-9 SEPTEMBER 2004

The final phase of the RADAR - Connecting Europe Project, was staged in the Italia Future Telecom Centre, Venice. Moorland Productions screened three films produced during the project: "Song without Words", "Rynek" and "Venezia com'erà", as well as outdoor projections of still images documenting the project and a performance: "Seetha's World Tour", Curated by Laura Scarpa and Lorenzo Cinotti.

50th VENICE BIENNALE  RADAR CONNECTING EUROPE

JUNE - SEPTEMBER 2003

RADAR - Connecting Europe, a three-month residency in Venice with exhibition at the Centro Civico, Giudecca, sponsored by the European Cultural Fund 2000. Moorland Productions worked on 24 projects involving local residents and exhibited five at the RADAR Pavilion, Giudecca. "The Four Elements (4 x 10 metre digital panoramas), "The Merchants of Venice" (Digital prints)  "Traffico" (Audio CD/installation), "Butterflies for an Enchanted Garden" and  "A Spasso a Venezia" (Digital music project with schoolchildren).  Curated by Laura Scarpa and Lorenzo Cinotti. Mentored by Joseph Kosuth, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Olafur Eiriksson.

DEPTFORD X - "TRANSIENT STATES"

2004

For the Deptford X" Moorland Productions produced a homage to Venice : the exhibition "Bridge", sited in a disused Railway arch and comprising two 5 metre digital panoramas "Air" and "Water"from the "The Four Elements" series, two large digital prints of "Air" and "Water" from the film "Song without Words" (Venice, 2004) and a sculptural installation with digital print  "Bridge".

RYNEK - GALERIE PRYZMAT, CRACOW

2004

During Phase 2 of the RADAR Project, Moorland Productions travelled to Cracow and made a documentary film, "Rynek" (Market)  celebrating Poland's entry into the EU - inspired by the 16th-century Balthasar Behem Manuscript in the Jagallonian Library, which portrays Cracow's Merchants; plus digital prints of selected contemporary Cracow Shopkeepers.

Following the Venice Biennale installation, at the 'Transculture Pavilion', (see below) Moorland Production showed two new digital prints celebrating tea culture  with "World Tea Party"group, (Bryan Mulvihill, Daniel Dion, Marc Patch and Suschnee) at Presentation House, Vancouver, Canada. Supported by The Japan Foundation.

"SURFACE TENSION" ROTHERHAM, UK

1993

Rotherham City Library & Museum.  The first public exhibition of Moorland Productions as a partnership. Works exhibited on the subject of warfare and the Cold War included "Rushing to the West"(digital print) about the fall of the Berlin Wall, a series of large cibachrome triptychs, and a series of diptychs on the theme of warfare, with painted panels, cibachrome and screenprint,  including "Urphänomen - Gold" (illustrated here). Rotherham Museum is a military Museum dedicated to the Second World War.  With Realist artists Clive Head and Stephen Whitehead. Catalogue essay by Kenneth Hay.

JUNE - SEPTEMBER 1995

'Transculture Pavilion', Venice Biennale, Palazzo Giustinian Lollin, Canale Grande, Venice. Moorland Productions, with "World Tea Party"group, Vancouver, Canada, exhibited a double-sided digital print "Tea for Two" (illustrated here) together with an installation about the Scottish/Indian involvement in the 17th-century tea trade.
